Quick Review: Ultramarine Magmell

What’s up! I’m back with another Quick review! This is a Netfilx original called Ultramarine Magmell. This one didn’t have a whole lot in the description, but looked action packed. As always I’m focusing on the Characters, Music, Animation and Story and all based on the first episode. Let’s get started!

Quick summary: In a world like ours, a new continent suddenly appears. This new continent named Magmell, is full of lush plant life and wildlife. People are drawn to the mystery place, hoping to strike it big. When so many people are out adventuring, there has to be someone who can go and rescue them.

Characters

So far, not a whole lot of characters introduced. You have the main character that I only know as Mr. Inyou and his partner Zero. As far as first impressions go, Inyou reminds me of a Gintama figure. At the start of the episode we get the gist that he runs a business and is broke. He seems lighthearted enough joking to his partner that he will savor his last piece of toast. Like in Gintama, Inyou takes on a case to find a missing brother on behalf of the younger sickly brother.

In the first episode we are treated with a glimpse of Inyou’s power. He looks to be pretty strong, as he almost takes out a flock of this mutant looking birds on the new continent. It’s clear he has a substantial amount of power, but cares about those in need.

Music

The music so far is pretty typical for a shonen. The intro and outro had a rock feel that kinda reminded me of Radiant. I don’t think we’re going to get any musical gems here, but the music does it’s job.

Animation

My favorite thing about the animation so far is how Inyou’s power is animated. It looks like black fire or maybe black lightning that manifests. So far it can change into whatever he wants in the moment so I’m sure there are going to be some cool animated fights. I might have to check out a few more episodes just to see if there is a good fighting scene. Animation is definitely good for you to watch.

Story

There was not a whole lot given in terms of story in the first episode. Some questions that come to mind would be: Where did the continent come from? Why are there like weird versions of regular animals, like a six legged horse? How did Inyou get his power? How did he get his business with Zero? There is definitely more to be seen with Inyou and his business. I wonder what other kind of treasures lie on Magmell?

Overall, I definitely enjoyed the first episode. There was enough going to make me want to watch another episode. The main thing I want to know is how did another huge continent come to be? The second thing I really want to know is how did Inyou get so strong? So would I recommend this anime? I say my recommendation gets 4 out of 5 Magmell continents. This show may just come back for a final review. We will see!

But that’s all I have for you on #AnimeMondays! Be sure to check me out on instagram @the_nerdlight! See y’all tomorrow, peace!
