The Big 3 have always been the talk of the town, but what about anime from back in the day? What shows would’ve been considered the Big 3? Today is an addition to the Big 3 series all focused on what I think would be the most popular 3 anime during that time or genre. Keep reading to find out my picks for the Big 3: Old School edition.
The first anime in my old school lineup is Cowboy Bebop. This anime only ran from April to June, but it is still making an impact even now. This show’s intro music has to be one of the best intros to any anime. It sounds like it’s own rendition of James Bond, this song is amazing. I’m currently watching this anime. The main character Spike is a smooth cat and I can’t wait to finish this one up. Not only is the music great, but it continues to be an anime discussed with the greats for only having 27 episodes.
Next we have Sailor Moon. This anime was the first anime I watched growing up. Mistaking this anime for just a normal cartoon, this has so much nostalgia wrapped around it. Usagi’s transformation stands to be one of the most famous transformation, after Goku’s first Super Sayian transformation. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen the Sailor Moon transformation in all kind of shows. This Magical girl anime has left it’s marked in anime history. While Usagi can be considered a not so smart main character, we have plenty of examples of her giving her all to protect her friends. There’s not too many people who haven’t seen some kind of version of Sailor Moon. It also definitely stands to be the most popular Magical girl anime is in history.
And my favorite pick to round out the Big 3: Old school edition is Inuyasha.
This anime was another I watched when I was a little older, back in middle school. I just remember sitting and watching episode after episode thinking about how much I loved the story. Inuyasha was a hot-headed demon who only had one interest with was finding the pieces of the soul stone, while also keeping Kagome the girl from the alternate timeline alive. It is a fantasy and romance with a large amount of battles that make you forget you’re watching a romance. Inuyasha is also iconic with is dog-like ears and silver long hair. It has continued to be a nostalgic favorite year after year.
These are my Big 3 picks for this old school edition. Check the site tomorrow for the next Big 3 picks. See you tomorrow, peace!
