Pros and Cons of a Legend of Zelda Live Action Movie

What’s up Nerds! I heard through the grapevine that there’s a Legend of Zelda Live Action in the works. Today I’m going to go through some of the pros and cons that I see for this Live Action. Let’s get into it.

Pros

A pro that I would love to see in the Live Action LoZ is Hyrule. Hyrule is a massive place riddled with monsters, fairies and the citizens of Hyrule. We’ve seen Link traverse up and down Hyrule for years, but I just know the live action shot of Hyrule would be breath-taking. I would think it would be similar to seeing Lord of the Rings or maybe Narnia. Hyrule would have to be perfectly viewable and have the same emotional depth as the first pan of Hyrule we see in Breath of the Wild.

Another pro would be to see some of the races in Hyrule like the Gerudos or the Hylians. I can envision the actresses from Woman King donning the Gerudo get up, because there’s no way they wouldn’t cast someone Black for the Gerudo role. Think of like a Dora Milaje. Lashana Lynch would be the perfect Gerudo warrior or maybe even the Gerudo queen herself, Urbosa. Likewise I think it would be fun to cast characters like Zelda and Impa, especially if they decide to use Breath of the Wild or Tears of a Kingdom as their inspiration. Depending on what the personality of this Zelda I think casting could swing to Ellie Fanning or a Caylee Cowan. Either way, she’ll need to live up to the high expectations of the fans to embody Zelda. For Impa I would want her Skyward Sword version, so definitely someone older and wiser to aid the princess. The perfect casting for me would be Zoe Saldaña.

The last pro of course would be the music. LoZ has some of the most recognizable songs in gaming. Depending on what they decide to do with the story, there are some great songs that will help Link along his journey. Now matter how the story goes, you can never go wrong with Zelda’s lullaby. I’m sure the live action would have an original score with new songs for us to fall in love with. While also hiding in some of the most beloved Zelda tracks.

Cons

Now for the cons. Honestly the biggest con I can foresee is how are they going to tell the story if one of their main characters does not speak? It is well known that Link is more of a doer versus a talker. If you need protection he’s there but not if you need a speech recited. These are a couple of reasons why it may be a little hard to watch is Link if he’s silent. He does do a lot of grunting when fighting, but that’s all he’s got. As much as I love playing as Link, this may be hard to translate from game to screen.

There are many more pros and cons but this is where I’m going to wrap up. Are you guys excited about the news? What pros and cons do you see for a Live Action Legend of Zelda movie? Let me know in the comments! Keep nerding out!
