Mobile Game Review: Wordscapes

What’s up Nerds! I’m here for the last Mobile game review for the first week of #NowistheTime. You guys know the criteria, we’re looking at the game’s graphics, story, game mechanics, and the time played, along with my final thoughts. This will be a pretty quick review so here we go!

Graphics

By now you guys should know what kind of games I’m drawn to, clean and simple graphics. Wordscapes is a bit more illustrative than Lily’s Café or IQDungeons, but it’s giving peaceful vibes. There are also very simple and short animations of the animals and power ups you can use.

Story

No story in this game. However, you can acquire a forest pet that you can nurture. You can feed it, give it water and play with it. There’s even an option where it can entertain itself by dancing. The animations for each of these is super cute. And as you take care of your pet after about 30 minutes, it will gift you a couple of letters to help you in the current puzzle you’re solving. You can unlock other wildlife pets as well as gardens for your butterflies you can collect as you complete seasonal and special puzzles.

Game Mechanics

The mechanics are simple. Each puzzle you get 6 random letters (sometimes 7 letters if you’re completing a special level) and you’ll have to make all the words in the crossword puzzle. There’s no hint of what each word might be, you just have to create all the words you can with the letters you’ve been given. You swipe over the letters in order of a word you want to try. If it’s right, it’ll populate in the right spot on the puzzle or go in the bonus word section. Again this game is straightforward with its gameplay.

Time Played

I’ve come back to this game over and over again. It’s easily a mobile game I can not play for months, and then pick right back up with it. I love how challenging some of the puzzles can be so much so that I will even enlist my husband for help solving it. I’ve had this game for over a year as well. I enjoy trying to see how many words I can get and learning new words too.

Final Thoughts

Wordscapes is an easy going word scramble game that I can spend a little time with every day. Usually I can take between 5-10 minutes completing 3-4 puzzles. But if you want a challenge you can join the tournaments hosted in the game or even join a team. However you decide to play it, you’re sure to enjoy this relaxing word scramble game.

That’s it for our mobile game reviews! Come back ready for our new theme tomorrow. Keep nerding out!
