Favorite 5 Webcomics on Manta

Hello Nerds! I have fallen in love with a new webcomic app that I think can rival Webtoons and it is Manta. Before I get into why I love Manta let’s make it clear that I am NOT sponsered by Manta, I just really really love their content. Okay let’s go!

So the cool thing about Manta is that you only have to pay $3.99 a month to get an unlimited subscription. So instead of paying for each new episode that comes out with your favorite comic, you get all the new episodes and all the episodes are unlocked. So this might be a better fit for someone who reads multiple stories and doesn’t want to pay for coins to unlock new episodes. No shade to Webtoons, because I still read plenty over there too.

Now here are some of my favorite webcomics I am currently reading on Manta.

  1. Under the Oak Tree

Okay so this story right here is what brought me to Manta, no cap. I LOVE this story so freaking much! Now if romance is not your thing, then you might not like this one. But without going into too much detail (because I am going to do a whole post dedicated to this comic) it is a fresh take on the damsel in distress trope. I love Maxi the main character, she has a stutter which makes her feel inadequate to be the wife of a knight. Her knight husband Riftan is like the biggest lovable brute you could imagine. I could gush about this one all day so I’ll stop here.

2. The Beau and the Beast

This webcomic does the tough girl trope right! It’s a classic isekai (waking up in another world) where the main character has woken up in the body of Alexa the beastly princess. And when I say beastly I truly mean beastly. Think of the female version of Beast from Beauty and the Beast, with all the same brute force and brain to match. She soon finds out that Alexa has been outcast only called upon when the kingdom needs her to fight and win a battle. She decides that if she is going to live as Alexa some things are going to have to change. I appreciate this webcomic because we truly get to see a transformation of Alexa from beast to beauty. But she also has to be aware of the kingdom politics that have been going on way longer than she’s aware. She also links up with a great ally that will help her turn the tables. This one is still on-going and a highlight to my Sundays.

3. Finding Camellia

This one is fairly new and it took me a while before I started to read it. But man when I started I think I finished all the available episodes in one go. This girl Camellia is born out of wedlock to the Marquis. His current wife hates her mother but needs her to establish a strong lineage of the Marquis because her son, is sickly. So the wife basically steals Camellia from her mother and forces her to become Kieran’s younger brother. Although the father and son, know that Camellia is actually a daughter, they go along with the wife’s plan. We follow along with Camellia, now Camellius, as she dawns this disguise and gains allies to eventually find her mother and go back to her identity. This webcomic also has a novel, which is a great touch. I have to say I like following the novel more, because it gives greater details. But this is still a great story. A girl forced to be a boy in order to fulfill her stepmother’s desires of establishing her son and a strong successor. I am so looking forward to the reuniting of Camellia and her mother.

4. The Golden Forest

Okay now this one is like a tragic love triangle. The backstory that our main character, Renaie, tells is probably just as important, if not more important than the actual story. I’m not going to go into it because you really need to read it for yourselves, but it is beautifully intricate. The story sets you up to know that there is always going to be a struggle between Renaie and these two men. For the first half we get Kun and for the second half we get Gizzida. And man when I am telling you I have NO IDEA WHO TO ROOT FOR!!? They both have their faults and so does Renaie but man the author does not give you any hints as too who you should be for and against. Where I am in the story, I currently don’t want either of them, but we have to see where the story takes us.

5. Love Lies

So Love Lies is a completed series and one that I’ve read 3 or 4 times. Yes another romance. This one was gratifying and satisfying. Our main character Hyojung is tasked with being her cousin’s, Yeonkung, manager as she builds her acting career. In the midst of family drama and mistreatment Hyojung is roped into becoming the fake girlfriend of Korea’s most famous actor Seungyoon. Again this one is so satisfying because you don’t have to wait for the next episode each week. I love having a good ending to wrap everything up nicely. The dynamic between the 3 characters is spot on and enjoyable. You feel sad when you need to, anger when it’s warranted and pure happiness when Hyojung finds it. Definitely one of my favorites of all time on Manta.

There are so many more that I have read or am currently reading so be ready for a part 2! Let me know if the comments what webcomics you’ve been reading. Keep Nerding Out!
