Anime and the Elements: Air/Wind

Today’s post is a continuation of the anime and the elements discussion. It’s time to focus on the elemental power of air or wind.

This is a power that can catch you by surprise. You don’t think wind could be super powerful, but then you see it in action and are left speechless. This elemental power is one that can be that last extra power you needed to win the fight and save the day. While not as popular as our fire element, there are still plenty of wind users that make a stand as some of our favorite anime characters.

When you think of air the first thing that may come to mind is light. I tend to think of the phrase “light as a feather”. This can show in a wind user as a playful side of their personality. An air/wind user can be carefree in their behavior and not be grounded in anythings.

Let’s get into some of the recognizable wind/air power characters. The newbie on the block is Yuno from Black Clover. Yuno is one of the most powerful characters on the show, despite being so young. Yuno is not your typically wind user. Basing off the personality of wind/air users, Yuno is too laid back and quiet to fit this mold. But there are a couple of people who fit this personality. The first is Naruto. You might not always think of him as a air user but that is all the Resengan is, a ball of wind. Naruto, especially in his younger self, has one of the most carefree personality.

The next most recognizable character is Avatar Aang from The Last Airbender. Aang was not only carefree but was the most empathetic on the show. This is a characteristic of the air user that often gets overlooked. Avatar the Last Airbender, did a great job with Aang. We expeccted this kind of behavior from the water users, but it was nice to see how a boy, air user could be in tuned with his feelngs.

This is a power that can continue to be evolved as we are continuing to get new anime shows with powerful characters. I look forward to seeing how this power can continue to get stronger.

Can’t wait to finish this up tomorrow! Peace!
