I finally got a chance to watch Violet Evergarden on Netflix. I don’t know why it took me so long to watch this one. I would see it on my Netflix suggestions and I would stop, ponder, and keep scrolling. But I finally stopped and I loved it! I watched the entire anime, the movie, and the special. This anime drama is my number 1 favorite anime that’s not shonen. Here are 3 reasons you should watch Violet Evergarden. I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible to give you a chance to enjoy it firsthand.
Reason Number 1
Violet Evergarden is an anime that helps show you how to deal with loss. Again not going to far into any details, different characters are facing the issue of loss. There’s loss of loved ones, confidence, and careers. It was very refreshing seeing characters struggle through trying to process their loss. We pretty much get to see the 5 stages of grief. It reminded me a lot of Anohana. I appreciate growing with the characters as they move through life.
Reason Number 2
Relationships and loyalty are everything in this anime. Violet the main character develops so many different relationships in her quest to understanding emotions. Her loyalty is fierce, it could even rival Zoro’s loyalty to his captain in One Piece. You get to see Violet navigate through new relationships, and explore new territories. All the while she stays faithful to her duty. Violet’s honesty and innocence makes those around her root for her, despite what they may have initially thought about her. It also causes orders to reevaluate their own relationships for better or worse. The character development is some of the best I’ve seen. This really helps the plot and leaves you feeling encouraged and satisfied at the end of season 1.
Reason Number 3
The animation! You knew this was coming. I can’t honestly recommend Violet Evergarden without speaking on the animation. I love the style of Violet Evergarden. It’s so soft and delicate looking. In a way the animation is trying to become something. Kind of like Violet was trying to become a new creation. The lines are smooth but light. It actually reminds me a lot of watercolors. If you are even remotely interested in how things are animated, I would definitely recommend Violet Evergarden. It can serve as an example of seemless animations, just enough to get your attention.
Welp those are my 3 reasons why you should watch Violet Evergarden! Spoiler free! I love this anime and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did.
