What’s up Nerds!
I finally got a chance to play Neoludic’s newest project: Tiny Bookshop. The demo is currently out on Steam and it was super cute! If you love book shops and the idea of owning your own traveling book shop this is the cozy game for you.
First off the demo is very short. It was so short I was so bummed I couldn’t play more. I think Neoludic gives you just enough to get you hooked before pulling the rug from up under you! But I believe this is what a demo is supposed to do. It should leave me wanting to know more about the characters and about the game.
Next is the art style. I LOVED this art style. It literally looks like something out of a well-illustrated book. I love how the characters and their emotes are drawn and I love the setting. From the locations available in the demo, they give you exactly what you think it would be. Windy town where you are overlooking the lighthouse? Got it. What about a nice beach? Yes, they have that too. And we can’t forget about the bustling café downtown, now can we? You’re right because they definitely have that as well.
For the game mechanics I like how you can help customers find books. Although the questions might be a little difficult if you’re not up on your different novels. I was so surprised to see anime/manga on the shelfs. But I was also equally surprised to see real titles of books. I guess I just assumed we wouldn’t be able to actually see book titles, but I’m so happy I was wrong. I also like how many genres there are as you fill up your bookshelf. It would be to your benefit to keep each genre well-stocked as you don’t know who might come looking for a particular book. Also there is a cool newspaper where you can buy items and your books. You can even get them on sale or free! But be sure to get them quick because you can definitely miss a good sale. It’s helpful that the newspaper also includes a little calendar to let you know what events maybe happening during the week.
You also have the ability to customize not only your tiny bookshop but some of the items you can buy or collect. Of course it takes me forever to customize the outside ( and inside) of my tiny bookshop. What I hope to see is the ability to customize our car that drives around our tiny bookshop.
All in all I greatly enjoyed playing the demo of Tiny Bookshop. I love the concept of driving around with my books to come and bring to the different townspeople. I can’t wait till this game comes out. Please be sure to Wishlist it on Steam because it is super helpful for the developers!
Have you played Tiny Bookshop? What was your favorite part? Let me know in the comments and keep nerding out!
