Solo vs Multiplayer: What’s your preference?

I’ve said on the blog before that my very first gaming system was a GameCube and my first game was Legend of Zelda. I didn’t know about Mario or MarioKart or any fighting games at that time. So I will say I probably have a bias towards solo games so just putting that out there.

Nowadays if you say multiplayer game most people think of Fortnite or PUB G. There’s also games like League of Legends or Dota. I’ve tried a few of these but there’s never anything that keeps my attention. And I think it’s because my brain is wired to want to accomplish the game in a linear fashion. Meaning, I need to see the progression of the story. In LOZ (minus BOTW) there is a linear story. Something happens, Link needs to go on a journey through dungeons in various places, then he saves the day. In the multiplayer games, it’s a little bit harder for me to understand how to move from chapter to chapter. I just end up getting lost in leveling up and grinding that I don’t think about the main objective.

I think when it comes down to it, multiplayer games are supposed to be a lot more interactive. Growing up my parents didn’t know anything about games, and I didn’t know anything about games, so I missed out in the multiplayer type games like Halo and Call of Duty. This ultimately has followed me into my adult life as I without any other thought deny any request to play online with others. I’m hoping to eventually find a game that’s worth playing online and take a shot at making these types of online friends. That’s definitely a benefit I don’t have only playing solo RPGs. I want to be able to make more gamer friends that look like me. I know there’s a community out there just waiting for me to join! I think there’s a gaming community for everyone, from the hardcore I play every day gamers to the leisurely who play once a month.

There’s opportunity for both solo and mulitplayer games to spawn great communities of people who share the same interest. I’ve definitely played my share of solo games, so I just need to find the perfect mulitplayer game. So if you play online games let me know! Add me as a friend! My username is Level_Z0r0! Let me know y’all lol

See you tomorrow! Peace!

  1. I’m definitely more of a solo gamer. I do enjoy Multiplayer games, such as, Destiny 2, Fortnite (occasionally lol), and Call of Duty. After a while though, I lose interest for a while. I’m a big movie person, so I think that’s why the uncharted series is one of my faves ever. I always felt like I was watching a movie and that hooked me.

    1. That’s cool! I tried Fortnite for a little while but I lost interest too. The Destiny series has been in my list of games to try. I remember looking at the previews of the most recent Uncharted games and I completely agree it looked like a movie.
