Mommy Post #3

Hey hey my fellow parents!

I’m back with another Mommy Post! For today’s post I wanted to focus on something I am learning from my almost two month old son, Lucas.

As you can imagine having an almost 2 month old has it’s ups and downs. Let me stress that there are waaay more ups than downs, the main one being getting less sleep. Coming in for a very close second is hearing him cry because of his gas :-(. One up is finally getting to a point in his development where he is actively looking around and taking in his environment. I’m still waiting for that social smile and all the late and sleepless nights will be worth it.

One thing my little one has been teaching me is that he is already a little person. He’s already his OWN person. I see this in all he does and in all his interactions with us. It’s like yes, he’s trying to learn something or make sense of what he’s seeing, but he is also letting you know what he likes. Or more often what he dislikes. Maybe I just thought babies wouldn’t have that much of a personality till they hit about 6 months? I don’t know, but my son has corrected me. And that’s such a good thing. I’m excited seeing him discover things for himself, not because me or his dad made him do it.

Now yes, I know as parents we have a lot to do with what he is currently discovering, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get it wrong. Maybe he doesn’t like that toy, or maybe he always cries to that song. It’s going to be a lot of trial and error, but seeing him actively discover his own traits makes it all worth it. Now if only he would discover his like of tummy time haha.

That’s it for today, see you tomorrow. Peace!
