Mobile Game Review: Tales of Wind

Hey you guys! I am back for another #mobilegamereview. Last week I promised I would post my review on Tales of Wind, so let’s jump into this week’s post!

So I want to start off with everything I really liked about the game, but first a quick summary. Tales of Wind is a MMPORPG with customization characters, cards for leveling up in power and various game-play modes. For reviewing purposes, I want to just focus on the main story

  1. Art Style

I am a huge fan of games who take the time to create a simple but cool graphics. Tales of Wind does a great job with making a familiar art style and putting it to a game. I like the simplicity of it and it reminds me of various anime I’ve seen over the years. One game that comes to mind is the JRPG Tales of Zestria, this series. I suppose Tales of Wind could be a spin-off from the JRPG series. The colors are light, so I can clearly see where I am going and what’s around me. The costumes for each profession look cool as well. There’s not a whole lot to go into for this point, mainly because the developers did so much right.

2. Story

Full disclosure, I have only been playing the game for a few days. So I don’t have all the information about the story or how the story progresses. What I can say is that the story was intriguing. Apparently darkness has arrived at the La Place the central hub for the kingdom. The game needs your help to help restore the light. Does it sound like most games? Yes. However, at the beginning of the game you witness of of the characters get possessed by the darkness that has entered the world. Now we have a face to attach with the impending darkness. I would have to keep playing to see what ends up happening to the possessed character. I assume it ends in an all out battle, but I’ve yet to see my character come up against any of the darkness’s henchmen. After this scene with the possessed character, you fight him and this introduces you to your combat controls. I appreciated how the game jumped straight to the action. Usually I like thorough tutorials, but I didn’t mind jumping right into the combat section.

3. Customization

I really enjoyed the customization in this game. I like that there were different professions you could choose from, but not too many. You can pick from 4: warrior, mage, assassinator, or cleric.

But in each of the main groups, you can choose between promotion paths. For example if you choose the Cleric profession, you can be a cleric or a ranger. You also have choices in the appearance of your character. This includes: hair, hair color, eye color, eye shape, and the tone of voice. Thank you for including the option to change their voice. Overall, I enjoyed creating my character. It really felt like it was my own.

The Negatives

My major complaint about the game is that there’s too much stuff to do. I think I would have enjoyed playing Tales of Wind on a PC. It was super overwhelming to see all these online created characters pop up as I was trying to figure out what to do. There’s so many options of other things you can do in the game, I can’t list them all. Mostly because I didn’t understand all of it. The game-play wasn’t bad, but it took me a minute to understand l My next criticism is the lack of shade options for my character. I don’t mind my character, but I think it would have been cool to be able to give my character a darker complexion. Lastly, I wish there could be an easier way to just continue to do the main story. After I spoke to Beck (one of the NPCs) he wanted me to do his mission. Well after I completed said mission, I could not figure out how to get back on the main story.

Overall it was a cool game and I think there are a certain people who will like it more than other. For me, it was a nice game to have just to pass the time.

But that’s all I have for you! Please let me know what you enjoy from the game in the comments below. Peace!!
