Episode Summary/Recap

The episodes begins with Haida on a date with Inui. They talk bout Haida being in a band and playing bass. Inui casually mentions she would love to watch him the next time he plays. After the date, Tadano reaches out to Haida to hang out at the same ramen place in Hokkaido. So he flies over to pick up Haida. Tadano and Haida talk about what Inui said. They both conclude that Inui is trying to get over to Haida’s place. He then asks Haida what does he want to do. Tadano also says that Inui seems like a nice girl, and Haida agrees.

Hyoudo inquires if the group can play any instruments. The girls all give answers that are unsatisfactory to him. He went and bought new instruments so they can create a new image as an actual band. He mentions RockStock which is a outdoor rockfest. He says they have an opportunity to play at the fest, and although they would be there as a filler, it would create buzz for the group’s notoriety. Hyoudo instructs the girls to go and learn their respective instruments. Retsuko tries to learn chords with Manaka but with little success. They then go to lunch and they complain about doing what Hyoudo wants. Manaka mentions how she felt about Retusko being named as the lead vocalist. Hearing this Retsuko apologizes stating that Manaka must dislike the whole situation. Manaka questions Retsuko and asks if she thinks she can go through life not hurting people. She said to stop apologizing because she knows how much Retusko enjoys being on stage giving it her all. That’s all she can do so don’t apologize for it.

Gori and Washimi meet up for coffee. Gori finds out that Retusko was in the band because of debt. She follows Haida questioning if he has time to go undercover at one of her concerts. Haida says he has a prior engagement, which is to meet Tadano. Gori crashes his meet up anyway. Gori is shocked to see Tadano.

Retsuko is practicing her chords and has come up against the infamous F chord. Gori questions how Tadano and Haida are friends. Tadano says it’s because they were both turned down by Retusko. Gori remarks about how cute it was for Haida to follow her all the way to Hokkaido. Gori says that she may not be the girl that Haida thinks she is, and that she tends to hide that part of herself at work. Gori tires to get Haida to use her matchmaking app to see if he and Retusko are compatible. Haida refuses, but Tadano is excited about the app and gets to working with the interface. He tells Gori if she lets him play around with ENI-O she won’t have to worry about paying. Retsuko is exhausted from trying to practice. She thinks of who she can contact to help her learn. Haida calls Inui to invite her over to his place.

Reaction

I like the Haida intro! Showing us his bass and that he is a rocker too, I see what y’all were doing. I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure we (the audience) have seen Haida play either in Season 2 or during the Christmas episode. Anyway let’s talk about his Haida and Inui date though. Inui wasted no time throwing out her hints. She was straight letting him know I’m trying to come over. And poor Haida, he’s so cute blushing and not knowing what to say. Say what you like about Inui, but she at least knows what she wants and is willing to put herself out there for it.

So not only does Haida doing well with Inui, he also has a new bestie!! I love that Haida and Tadano are hanging out. I actually really like Tadano, but am not sure who I would actually ship him with? I definitely think he needs a mature woman like Gori or Washimi. Hmmm, maybe Washimi? They both seem pretty independent, but that’s a topic for another post on another day. Back to the show, I really like that Haida can confide in Tadano. It really did seem like he was missing some male companionship and he can only relate to Anai in so many ways with them having such different interests. I really wanted to see Gori’s matchmaking app in action. I’m hoping since Tadano has added the ENI-O AI system we will get to see the app more in the next couple of expisodes. Also big ups to Haida for taking that leap and inviting Inui over. Again I want to see him with Retsuko as much as the next fan, but she’s dated other guys on the show so I think it’s fine for Haida to explore his options. He needs to see what else is out there because frankly, Retsuko might never receive his feelings.

I applaud Manaka for always staying true to herself and her character. I like that the girls although they complain about him, seem to trust Hyoudo and his new schemes without much griping. I think the girls really trust that he has their best interest at heart. I also love Manaka and her dedication to her craft. No matter what is thrown at her, learning a new instrument or getting bumped as lead vocals, she is determined to make it into this business and make OTM successful. I really want Retsuko to gather that confidence she had at the end of season 1 and 2. It just seems like while we’re making strides in the right direction, she is almost forgetful of her capabilities. She knows she’s strong and capable, I just wish that would come out more in her daily life and not just when she is in her death voice mode. I liked that this episode focused more on Haida and the others. It’s nice to learn more about the other characters. I’m missing Fenneko though! I need more Fenneko and Retsuko, Washimi, and Gori hangs.

I’m thinking for the next episode Retsuko is going to remember that Haida plays, so I’m interested to see what happens there. We’re almost at the end of Season 3 so I know something big is coming!
